Don’t miss out on free PC games, even if you don’t have a pc.
The pandemic has been a great opportunity for game publishers to tempt the casual or non gamer with some freebies. Trials of GeForce Now, Stadia, and $1 Game Pass/XBox Live Gold subscriptions are an easy way to jump right in and play a variety of games without having to spend more than $1. (continued)

Let that marinate in your brain for a minute as you think about the potential cost associated with developing, manufacturing and distributing the new PS5 and XBOX Series X. (continued)

I’ve never had a video get a million views before, but I’m damn close. In January 2006 I got a call from game industry giant David Perry. (He’s a giant for his accomplishments, but he’s also very tall!) I had sent him a copy of the short film about video game addiction that Michael Highland produced under the AGN brand a year earlier. “As Real As Your Life” was a remake of the student film Michael submitted to the University Of Pennsylvania Film Festival. He won, I found out about it and asked him to send it to me. It blew me away. (Continued)

Mixer? I hardly knew her.
Time’s Up. Everywhere you look, people are essentially saying IDGAF anymore, here is my truth and you can deal with it, or not. Microsoft announced they are closing MIXER and has a deal to transition the community toward Facebook. It didn’t mention anything about the story floating through twitter the day before. Was Mixer shut down in response to that story? (continued)

Go back to Tony Hawk’s warehouse on August 14th
Activision and EA are about to go head to head in a half pipe. While the latter just announced they are developing SKATE 4 which won’t be available for at least a year, the Tony Hawk remaster is kickflipping a demo to everyone on August 14th. This isn’t deja vu. (continued)

Nintendo is ditching mobile, and it’s all your fault.
About 3 years ago, Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto, the legendary creator of Mario and other popular franchises took to the stage at an Apple event to announce the debut of Super Mario Run on the app store. This was a big deal at the time and Nintendo’s stock price jumped on the news. (continued)

MOD MASTERS
In the early days of allgames.com I was all about PC games. The keyboard and mouse controls, the ability to push increased resolutions and patch games post release were real benefits at the time. Being a PC gamer also came with a lot of headaches. You often had to spend time finding the latest sound, video, and input drivers. Games developers had to account for dozens of sound and video card options to make sure the game was compatible with as many PC's as possible. (continued)

Combat Reporter Live
When it came to coverage of combat simulators and games, Rod White was our Host and Correspondent during the AGN era. Here is one of his interviews he did via phone. We have more videos from Rod at E3 and via webcam coming soon.

Fake it, till you make it.
I guess you could say I started out as a PC gamer. My TRS-80 was an iMac like desktop computer with an Z80, 8-bit processor. I would spend hours typing in the code from various magazines to create a lunar lander or some other simple animation or game. If you really wanted to play something fun, you needed a cassette or floppy disk. The cassettes would create a screeching sound that would remind you of an old 56k modem and you could find them usually at Radio Shack.

allgames.com V10?
I’m not sure what version of this website we are really on, but I don’t think it matters at this point. In 1995 I registered this domain so I could collect any scrap of gaming information I could find. The idea was to call up these game publishers and ask for phone interviews with the developers. Then I would encode them using real audio 1.0 and upload them to my ftp server over a 56k modem.
