Why I Can No Longer Create DPL:LE

There will be some content in here that some may find objectionable. This is my personal experience and opinion, and this piece includes my very personal reasons for making my decision to end DPL:LE. I have chosen to share this with you, because despite all my jokes to the contrary, I really do care about our show listeners.
I have hosted DPL for over five years now. I have come to adore and even share friendships with many of my listeners. To this day, I am unsure if I ever had any female listeners, however.
You can point an obvious finger at the fact that my podcast was about video games, but you’d be presenting a terribly weak and presumptuous argument. The largest reason that video game publications and communities have less females is because they cultivate all male, sometimes women-phobic settings. The reason women avoid many of these communities is NOT because they don’t play games. It’s because they’re told they’re not good enough or not a big enough fan. If they’re unattractive, they don’t matter as a female gamer. If they’re attractive, they ALSO don’t matter, because of course they can’t be a *real* gamer. And no matter what they do, they’re only doing it for male attention. The worth of a female gamer is measured in how many “advantages” she can get by appealing to men, and no one wants to face the fact that she is reduced to this standard. I could go on and on.
