It's another doubleheader filled with controversy, strife, and radio stream issues. (Don't worry, most of the radio stream issues were edited out!) On the first episode: We give our official impressions on Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People Episode One: Homestar Ruiner. Does it work for people who aren't already fans of the Homestar Runner universe? Fable II Pub Games came out on the Xbox Live Arcade this week and we just have to ask...Why?! We give a correction about our misspeak of who bought who with Vivendi and Activision Blizzard. We also correct the notion that LittleBigPlanet was going to be available both on the PSN store and as a retail game - it will be retail only. However, Burnout Paradise IS coming to the PSN as a download. We play a mashup of an interview with Yuri Lowenthal, voice of the Prince in Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and The Two Thrones, as done by Distributed Failure. Then we take calls about a heated debate over piracy - where an admitted pirate calls in to defend why he pirates, and outraged chatters call in to tell him he is wrong. In the second episode: We enrage the chatters even more by talking about the 9/11 Invaders! exhibit at Games Convention 2008 in Liepzig, Germany, which was eventually removed by the artist. Sony made many announcements at Liepzig, such as a new PSP model, wireless chatpad for the Dualshock 3/SIXAXIS, Singstar compatibility between the PS2 and PS3 versions, and a new camera-enabled application called EyePet. There was some confusion about LittleBigPlanet being region locked, but it was just that - confusion. Microsoft and Rock The Vote is bringing the election to Xbox Live - you can now register to vote with your 360. We play a new song from The OneUps Volume 2, which leads into discussion about our PAX'08 LIVE! coverage next week. Then we take calls about PAX and Warhammer: Online ignoring it's European fans with respect to the open beta.
I GREATLY apologize for the length of time it took to make these shows available. Once again, real life got in the way. In the first episode: We give an update on our PS3 and talk about the recent release of Soul Calibur IV and how we're not playing it. Then we give our impressions of Civilization Revolution and Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2. The Burnout Paradise Cagney update was finally announced for the Xbox 360, while PS3 owners already had it. Activision decided not to publish several high profile Vivendi titles such as Ghostbusters and Brutal Legend, but all is not lost. We have an interview with Matthew Clarke, the Team Lead for the Eleca character in the new Prince of Persia, and we talk about not dying. Then we take calls about Prince of Persia and Soul Calibur IV. In the second episode: We give an update on our PS3 and talk about the recent release of Soul Calibur IV and how we're now playing it. We give a small preview of Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People Episode One: Homestar Ruiner, as our live show aired before the embargo was lifted so we couldn't go into much detail. We then discuss Braid and it's $15 price as a downloadable title and wonder why there's so much hostility over the price. We also talk about artsy games and bring up PixelJunk Eden. Time Warner released in a financial report that Gametap is being sold. The promo we played is for Playapalooza'08, a charity event put on by our friends at Platform Nation. Kadosho calls in to give us a scoop on Street Fighter IV coming to US arcades, starting with an arcade in Tacoma, Washington this coming week. We take a call about fighting games and how other podcasters miscategorize them. We read out the answers to our Rock Revolution contest and OLR (unknowingly) helps us decide who wins the Rock Revolution branded iPod Speakers.
This ENTIRE SHOW is about the music games of E3 - if you don't care about them, then there is nothing in here that you will care about. There is also a giveaway for the Rock Revolution branded iPod Speakers - the deadline for submissions will be Sunday, August 10th at 7PM Eastern. The games we cover are: Wii Music - How Nintendo FAKED their press conference and what they aren't telling you about this kid's game. Rock Band 2 - Hands on time with both the new stock drumset and the Ion drumset. Interview with Daniel Sussman, Director of Hardware Development at Harmonix. Guitar Hero: World Tour - More questions than answers, music creator mode, possibilities with MIDI-In jack. Rock Revolution - Hands on time with the drumkit and DS versions. Interview with Rozita Tolouey, Director of Marketing at Konami. Go! Go! Break Steady - Orange Lounge Radio discusses a new Xbox Live Arcade title that combines Gitaroo-Man and Zuma.
We have just returned from E3 2008, and while we liked it, there were many who didn't - some of whom actually forced the change in the first place. We examine the irony of the situation. Then we talk about some of our highlights from the show outside of the rhythm action genre, such as Fallout 3 and Prince of Persia. Our interview is with John Edwards, Senior Designer on Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, who answers the question "Why do you hate your fans?" Then we take calls about how really E3 should only be for IGN/Gamespot and not for independent media, and about some of the other highlights from the show.
We begin with a big announcement of All Games Radio Presents: PAX'08 LIVE! Eight hours of live streaming radio from the 2008 Penny Arcade Expo. Then we recount a tragic story of why a second PS3 needs to be repaired, and the moral lessons we have learned from it. We give our impressions of two games for the iPhone/iPod Touch 2.0 Firmware, Super Monkey Ball and Tap Tap Revenge. We preview Gametap's new original episodic series American McGee's Grimm. Microsoft announces that the 20GB Xbox 360 will drop in price to $299, but only until supplies last. Konami has sued Viacom, MTV, and Harmonix over Rock Band because Konami missed the boat and didn't bring Guitar Freaks and Drummania to the US 10 years ago when they had the chance. Then we take calls about our E3 schedule and expectations, and about Warhammer: Online's removal of classes and capital cities.
