When Heroes Become Villains -- Injustice: Gods Among Us

aawonder

Super Hero Wonder Woman battles villains

It is not uncommon for super heroes whether they appear in comic books, graphic novels or video games, to show anger or unfortunately violent tendencies when battling villains.  However, it is apparent to me from the back story of Injustice: Gods Among Us, that these tendencies have been taken to another level.  It looks as if these tendencies were taken somewhat to the extreme, in my opinon,  when some of the super heroes are actually depicted as bonafide villains in the video game, Injustice:  Gods Among Us.  The reason given for the super heroes having villain counterparts was that there needed to be  justification for the super heroes to fight against each other.  My counter to this justification is that even though I do not in any way condone using anger to demonstrate disagreements, I do not believe it would not have been out of character for the super heroes to fight against each other in the video game, even if they were trying to settle their differences, through video game battles.  I believe that turning the super heroes into actual villans was a step in the wrong direction.

Injustice: Gods Among Us Video Game Characters

Sometimes, characters may have an evil alter-ego -- as in the case for some depictions of Spiderman.  I did not have a problem with this because the real Spiderman was still a crime-fighting hero, while he fought against another version of himself.  The difference between the alter-ego take, and having actual evil super heroes is that  in a sense, he is one and the same character.  When seeing these type alter-ego characters, I know that more than likely, the true heroic character will triumph over the evil one.   However, when super heroes are now being depicted as villains -- that is a whole different story.

aaaabatman

Superman battles Batman in InJustice:  Gods Among Us Video Game

Before you remind me  that these super heroes turned villains are in a different universe than the true heroes, I would like to let you know that in my opinion, this aspect of the video game does not make any difference.  A villain is a villain, regardless of the universe he or she is in.  Some video game players prefer to play villains in fighting games -- which is ok, if that is their preference.  As the saying goes, "Different strokes for different folks."  However, in my opinion, there was no need to use or show super heroes as villains in this video game.  I think there are plenty of existing villans out there who the real super heroes could have fought against.  In fact, they could have used their creative license to make up, create or introduce new villains from other sources -- instead of having well known crime-fighting super heroes to be shown as villains.

aaalobo

Lobo, a true villain, will more likely remain a villain regardless of what universe he is from

Of course, Injustice: Gods Among Us is basically a fighting video game, so the majority of gameplay is one character fighting against the other.  Even though some of the gameplay features dialogue,  I'm relieved that this game is not a role playing type game in which the storyline of having evil super heroes would be more evident.   The main plot seems to revolve around Superman taking over the world while in one universe, and super heroes from another universe trying to contend with this.  There are other subplots as well that involve fights between the characters in the different universes.

Regardless of which universe the heroes or villains are from, I believe that super heroes should remain super heroes -- and villains should remain villains.  I, for one, cannot imagine an evil Wonder Woman whose mission is to bring peace to the earth as well as to promote truth, justice and the American Way.  In other words, she fights villains, and is definitely not one herself.

There is always the option for developers and others to have villains change into super heroes in video games. This would, in my opinion, be a welcome change;  unfortunately, I do not see this happening any time in the near future.

Injustice: Gods Among Us DLC Character Now Available

Injustice: Gods Among Us DLC Character

NetherRealm Studios has announced the latest character  added to the Injustice: Gods Among Us roster is now available.  This character was selected based upon twitter votes and won over other suggested heroes and villains.  His name is General Zod.  If you are a Superman or DC Comics fan, you may know that General Zod is a villain of Superman.  The selection of General Zod as the next DLC character for Injustice: Gods Among Us completes the list of 4 DLC characters that have been added since the game launched in April 2013.  The other characters previously added to this game were Lobo and Batgirl from DC Comics as well as Scorpion from Mortal Kombat.

If you were hoping that a different video game character would be selected, there's a chance that he or she may become available as DLC -- since NetherRealm Studios plan to add more characters.  The latest rumor is that the next character may be Martian Manhunter from DC Comics, however, this could, of course change.

Unfortunately, there is a cost involved if you would like to acquire General Zod for gameplay. The current price is $4.99 for this character.  In a spending mood?  In addition to getting a new character for this game, General Zod, you may also like to purchase DLC packs which include skins as well as a variety of costumes for the current Injustice: Gods Among Us video game characters.

Injustice: Gods Among Us is rated T for Teen and is playable on the Xbox 360,  PS 3 and the WII U.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut Reveals

Deus Ex:  Human Revolution Director's Cut

For a game that has been around since 2000, you may think that it has run its course with prequels and other renditions of the game.  This is not the case for Deus Ex: Human Revolution's latest version, dubbed Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut. Based on reviews of gameplays during E3, 2013 demonstrations, the game is purported to deliver you not necessarily "more" -- but a "better" video game playing experience.  Of course, "better" is a relative term, and your enjoyment of the game will depend on how much you like playing these type action role playing video games.

Scene from Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut

The most recent reveal for Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut was the announcement a few days ago that the video game will no longer be an Nintendo WII U exclusive.  Based on overwhelming response from video game players, Eidos-Montreal revealed the game will be a multi-platform game playable on the Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Mac.  The plan was to have features of the game to utilize WII U's game pad -- which remains the same.  However, now that the game will be playable on other platforms, developers will have the gameplay make use of Microsoft's smart glass and the PlayStation Vita. The non-exclusivity of Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut may be a loss for Nintendo, but may be a definite win for gamers.  Regardless of the video game system you have, you will be able to play this game if you like.

Some of the changes in the director's cut include an improved big boss battle with a downplay on guns, especially if you are playing in the steath mode.  Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut will have improved, vivid graphics, better maps and you will be able to add peripherals during gameplay such as computers and cameras.  Also the Missing Link downloadable content will be included in the bundle.

According to Executive Game Director, Jean Francois Dugas, the Director's Cut of this game will give you the ultimate edition of Human Revolution.

By the way, if you are curious as to how "Deus Ex" is pronounced, the developers used the  pronunciation that rhymes with "Zeus Ex", even though there are other ways the name of this video game is pronounced.

Deux Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut will be rated M for Mature and releases in 2013.

Disclaimer:  The views expressed here are mine alone and do not represent those of allgames.com. Introduction to the Little Movie Review by Ms. H You may have seen other films with a similar premise as the Little movie.  For example “13 Going on 30” and I’m sure many others. This movie seemed to focus on how an adolescent would act if she had the mind of an adult -- and retained the resemblance someone much younger. Cast of Characters in the Little Movie For the most part, the actors played their roles adequately.  However, no one actor stood out to me. For example, when...

With the millions of dollars that your mega company has  -- you could not come up with quality talent to bring to life Captain Marvel in a more entertaining light?   Instead of using money to fly planes in CA to announce the movie’s opening, Disney should have spent the money on the content itself.
