There are lots of ways to win one million dollars these days. There is Survivor, but I don't think I could eat grubs, rats, and walk around with my ass hanging out for 30 days. There is the lottery, but I can never come up with that many numbers that mean something to me. There is the world series of poker, but I don't really feel comfortable about laying out the $10,000 buy in.
Today, 2K Sports has given me a reason to believe that I can become a millionaire, and all I need to do is trust that MLB2K10 is not the buggy unrealistic crapfest that was MLB2K9. That's right, 1 million in cash for the first person to pitch a perfect game on the XBOX 360 or PS3 version of the game. The game will need to be recorded in its entirety, which shouldn't be too hard given the Justin.tv/Ustream capable sites on the net these days.
The only thing that worries me is Billy Mitchell. That's right, everyones favorite villain from The King Of Kong, could be the fly in my ointment, as Twin Galaxies has been chosen to verify the perfect game video. Yes, the king of hot sauce could trump my million dollar perfect game by whipping out his own perfect game that is probably being produced in the bowels of Mitchell Manor as we speak. Of course it could also be foiled by former Twin Galaxies referee and basement dweller Robert Merzcek, who will undoubtedly be analyzing every frame of my Josh Becket/John Lackey outing. 2K swears this isn't just some hokey gimmick. The money is in escrow and ripped right from the marketing budget. Let's just hope the contest isn't ruined by a cheat as it was the last time a company tried to give away $1M (Advent Rising had a 1M offer to the player that could locate a hidden item in the game, a glitch/hack dropped a bunch of these items). 2K also scoffs at the notion it's impossible to pitch a perfect game saying they've gone 8 perfect with Johan Santana. UPDATE: We finally have some in game sizzle to wet your appetite for the 1M dollar challenge. I have to say I'm more impressed than I thought I would be. But, it is a sizzle vid...
