I'm a man, I don't enjoy "childrens books".

I should mention that One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish totally rocks every other nonsensical Dr. Seuss book. With Hop On Pop in a close second. Fox In Socks can suck a fat one.

I was a big Lloyd Alexander fan as a kid. The Prydain Cycle being the big one that I still have the compilation of (The Book Of Three, The Black Cauldron, The Castle Of Llyr, Taran Wanderer, and The High King). I love the Westmark Trilogy, too, and all the standalones of his I read (mostly dealing with cats) were good.
I loved those books, I never read the first one though. The Book of Three. I should try to pick that one up sometime.

It's all right, definitely exposition for the most part, but it's good to have under your belt as it'll give you a much better grounding in relation to the characters' interrelationships and some of the world's layout and situation. You can read pretty much any of the books and leave one or two out, but having all of them gives you the best experience, whether it's in order or not.Personally, Castle Of Llyr is my favorite. But I'm a sucker for boy seeks girl stories and bizarre love triangles.
