TOPIC: I turned Avril into a Statue

well, in Photoshop anyway. What do you guys think? It took about 20-30 minutes in PS CS3. Not too happy about the background and the texture itself, but I was just trying out the technique. Thoughts?

Yah, I know. I really just added the picture in for the bg, didn't even bother to blend it. I was lazy. And as I said, I couldn't find a better texture. It still looks pretty cool imho.EDIT: I guess I could've used the healing brush to get rid of the "breaks" in the marble, or at least make it dark and add correct shadowing to make it more believable.

Here's a really good tut on turning people to statues: http://psdtuts.com/tutorials-effects/create-a-graphic-statue-in-photoshop/Though when it comes to adding texture, I prefer a more 3D approach and use displacement maps:http://www.polykarbon.com/tutorials/displacement/displacement.htmThey actually deform the texture around the shape your working with, provided the shaded map you've made is good enough. It's a really neat trick though.
