I mean, half you guys were praising the government putting, fucking body scanners in airports, (biggest invasion of privacy ever)) to fight "terrorism", well fuck it, lets go all the way. If terrorism is really real, and a we're really scared of terrorism, then not only should comedy central censor anything muslims don't like, but the FCC and the government should do it too. So, what comedy central is doing is just following suit of the "keeping this country safe from muslims" crowd.

This has nothing to do with the muslim community. No one really gives a fuck. The media blows this shit out of proportion just to create some new controversy. You guys seem more butt hurt about it than any muslim I know. If I can accept the fact that the 24 hour, privately owned news setters, can rally an entire nation to hate muslims enough to invade their countries, then you can accept the fact that a privately owned Comedy Central (Viacom), can censor the word Mohamed. This has nothing to do with free speech. This has nothing to do with your rights.
No, I wouldn't imagine that what South Park did would insult any rational muslim. But designating a day to draw mohammed in a specific attempt to piss off the muslim community is different. Its intent is to insult. No, it doesn't have anything to do with free speech or your rights. Except the rights of Viacom to air whatever they do/do not want aired on THEIR station.

I'm not so sure it was Viacom as much as it was the people directly from Comedy Central.... they have never censored an episode like that. Matt nad Trey posted about it and are pissed. In the final speech of the episode they were placing censors in it on words that werent offensive or the word muhammed. it looks like they were just pissed at south park for pressing that matter when they know Comedy Central doesn't want anything to do with the issue... just like in 2006 when they censored muhammed.

I would think those in charge of Comedy Central would have more incentive to insult the muslim community. Or perhaps more incentive to be afraid...

Honestly, the whole thing at the end where the whole speech from Kyle was censored was pretty fucking funny. I thought it was part of the show. Also, the censor bars on Mohamed and Tom Cruise when he gets the "goo" are really floaty and animated, very unlike a censor bar that a station would use.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure all the censoring besides on the swear words was supposed to be there. The super best friends was the best part of the episode to be honest. "Coke isn't the same as porn you fag."

The Canadian station aired it totally censored too. I only skimmed through it a bit on my TiVo to check, but it was beeped when they said Mohamed and he was just a big censor bar. Hopefully they at least left in the Fucks and Shits.

Why We're Having an Everybody Draw Mohammed Contest on Thursday May 20
This is not about U.S. foreign policy, or trade policy, or aid to Israel or Egypt, or the creation of a Palestinian homeland. This is about the right to have the conversations that might inform all that and more. We live in a time of paradox: Never before have so many been so empowered to speak their own minds, to produce and consume whatever form of expression when they want, where they want. The impact on those seeking to regulate and control thought is as predictable as it is depressing and, ultimately, ineffective: Whether they are governments or corporations or religious or ideological groups, they want to stamp out the ability of people to say and think for themselves. Our Draw Mohammed contest is not a frivolous exercise of hip, ironic, hoolarious sacrilege toward a minority religion in the United States (though even that deserves all the protection that the most serioso political commentary commands). It's a defense of what is at the core of a society that is painfully incompetent at delivering on its promise of freedom, tolerance, and equal rights. It's a rebuttal to the notion that we should go limp in the clinches precisely because bullies and bastards can punch or blow us up. It's a rebuttal to the mentality evinced in the recent interview between liberal intellectual Paul Berman and Joel Whitney in the May 2010 issue of Guernica, where the sound you hear in the background is the sound of the interviewer pissing his pants
Great explanation of the whole thing. It's not just to piss off people.<3 Nick Gillespie
