Why do we drive on parkways and park on driveways?
Parkways are named after parks, not parking. Driveways are what you drive up to get to the garage or parking spot.kevin1gamer;384791 wrote:
Why is that when you transport something by ship it's called cargo and when you transport something by car it's called a shipment?
Technically anything transported on any vehicle is cargo, hence minivans are touted for their "cargo space". A shipment is an amount of a particular kind of cargo that is sent to another country on a ship, train, aeroplane, or other vehicle. They're practically synonymous and apply to both cars and ships.kevin1gamer;384791 wrote:
Why is it called an ATM machine when the "M" in ATM stands for machine, therefore making it an "Automated Teller Machine machine"?
They're not called ATM machines. Only idiots call them that. Most people just say "ATM".kevin1gamer;384791 wrote:
Why is it called ISN news when the "N" in ISN stands for news, therefore making it "Interstellar News News"?
ISN? That's not even a real network. If you mean the fake network from Babylon 5, it's pretty clear it's just ISN Network aka Interstellar News Network. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7r1nxl86RXYkevin1gamer;384791 wrote:
