I heard the limit was 500GB but i also have 250GB so i am not worred about running out of space any time soon. And a quick question say if i upgraded and got a new harddrive would it replace the old one or is the old one built in and the ps3 has space for a second hardrive? i have no idea.I have a PS3 slim.

The limit is 500GB. The PS3 does not even see it as 500GB, it sees it as 465GB, you loose 35 GB. And that's not to system files.

It's due to HDD manufacturers counting GB in decimal not binary, and yes it seems the system only supports 500 GB HDD. Though the file system can support more, likely a firmware update can resolve that. Besides who needs more? With media streaming and external storage, I'll answer nobody.
