Introduction to Creed II Movie Review by Ms. H

You may think sequels to movies are no match for the originals. The writers and director dispelled this perception and did so successfully with the Creed II movie. There were a few negatives in the movie such as appearances of a seemingly random character and lack of details for one of the character’s family; however, for the most part the positives far outweighed the negatives..

Storyline of Creed II Movie

If you watch Creed II, you can probably guess the outcome of the movie from the start. In other words, Creed II is by no means a suspenseful movie.  It is a movie about a boxing champion who simply wants to keep his title including the trials and tribulations he had to go through to do so. Additionally, even though the story was primarily about boxing champion Adonis Creed played by Michael B. Jordan -- the movie also showed his opponent’s dilemma which made for a well-rounded story.

A huge plus for this movie is it is a simple human-interest story that is easy to follow.  That being said, there was one character in the movie who was an enigma to me, since his role did not move the story along.  You will know who I’m referring to if you see the Creed II movie.

Acting Skills Displayed in the Creed II Movie

In my opinion, the acting skills displayed were adequate for this movie.  In other words, no one actor stood out to me as I watched the Creed II movie.  Instead, I think one of the  impressive aspect of the movie was the director’s ability to show the realistic motions and facial expressions during the boxing scenes.  In fact, a few times the movie audience applauded during several scenes of the movie as if an actual boxing match was taking place.

Assessment of the Creed II Movie

The writers used plenty of one-liners in the movie’s dialog that may get you thinking--sometimes philosophically. In other words some of Sylvester Stallone’s “words of wisdom”  may resonant with you or cause you to think about the meaning behind what he is saying.

There were a few unanswered questions dealing with Sylvester Stallone’s family; however, since this was not essential to the storyline, I think it was fine that more details were not shown. The highlight  of the movie was Adonis Creed’s quest to defend his boxing championship which the movie stuck to as the central theme.

If you choose to see the Creed II film, even if you are not a boxing fan, I think you will find the movie entertaining to watch.

Rating of the Creed II Movie

Based on a rating of 1 star to 5 stars with 5 stars being the highest, I rate the Creed II movie 5 stars.
