Introduction to Ralph Breaks the Internet Movie Review by Ms. H
I saw a short video of Shank who is one of the animated figures in this film in a twitter feed from Gal Gadot a day before I saw the movie. Apparently Gal Gadot who is the voice actor for Shank was promoting the movie. In hindsight, I think I would have enjoyed this movie more if I did not know ahead of time some of the characters who would appear. That being said, there were other surprising characters in the Ralph Breaks the Internet movie that made up for this reveal.
Storyline of Ralph Breaks the Internet Movie
The title of the film is exactly what happens during the course of the movie. Usually when someone is said to have broken the internet, it may be due to a video going viral and getting an astronomical number of views. In other words, the internet is not really broken. That’s not the case for the Ralph Breaks the Internet movie. He actually breaks the internet to the point of it being shut down. How did this happen? I will leave that up for you to find out if you watch the movie.
Animation in Ralph Breaks the Internet Movie
There is a saying that a picture is worth a thousand words. The creative animations in Ralph Breaks the Internet illustrates this. If someone is unfamiliar with the workings of the internet, including the dark web -- Ralph Breaks the Internet movie will give them a very general (some may say outlandish or humorous) view of how the internet can be shown via the cartoon characters, pictures, animations, caricatures, etc.
I liked how the animators used characters to depict certain parts of the internet. I’m sure the actual inner workings of the internet do not come close to what was depicted on the screen; however, I think if you watch this movie, you can relate to how some of the internet’s ever-turning “gears” are depicted in characters and animations in the Ralph Breaks the Internet movie.
Video Game Characters in Ralph Breaks the Internet Movie
The Ralph breaks the Internet movie mentions one of my favorite video game characters -- Pac Man which was a huge plus for me. In fact, there are numerous animated video game characters in this movie. Even though some of the characters did not have speaking parts -- the film managed to squeeze quite a few video game characters in some of the scenes along with animated figures from other big name movies.
Voice Actors in Ralph Breaks the Internet Movie
Gal Gadot who is probably most known for playing the role of Wonder Woman did an adequate job of being the voice actor for Shank, the race car driver. In fact, all the actors did fine with their voice acting including Taraji P. Henson as Yesss and Sarah Silverman as Vanellope. Based on the sound of Ralph’s voice, I was under the impression Seth Rogen was playing the part of Ralph, but found out later during the credits that Ralph is voiced by John C. Riley instead. By the way, if you see this movie, hang back after the credits to watch a short animated addition to the Ralph Breaks the Internet film.
Assessment of Ralph Breaks the Internet Movie
Overall, Ralph Breaks the Internet movie, in my opinion is entertaining and will keep your interest. There are a few negatives such as some may say the movie is an ad for an online auction site; that the movie could have delivered more laughs and the opening song could have been more positive. However, I think there were many positives in the movie such as the creativity shown in making this movie, the use of choice celebrities as voice actors who were on point and the movie had a plot that was easy to follow.
Rating of Ralph Breaks the Internet Movie
Based on a rating of 1 star to 5 stars with 5 stars being the highest, I rate Ralph Breaks the Internet 4 ½ stars.
